Conference Objective

Measuring the impact of cultural competence initiatives on outcomes will play a pivotal role in the advancement of a national cultural competence agenda. Building on the success and the recommendations derived from the first and second conferences, the objective of The Third National Conference is to advance effective health care for culturally diverse populations by providing a national forum for addressing systems development, data, and measurement issues as they relate to the provision of high-quality care for these populations.

This 3-1/2 day meeting included:

intensive skills-building workshops designed to encourage participant interaction
plenary sessions with national leaders speaking on the latest trends, practices, and policies
strategy development and problem-solving sessions
a resource center featuring exhibits, poster sessions, and roundtables to facilitate networking
FilmFest 2002. A special evening session featured videos and films on cross-cultural health issues, from awareness-raising to training.
